The first all professional card by Cut Throat MMA was a huge success. I have been to title fights that didn't have the same build up and excitement as the Ruggio vs Patterson main event. Team Immortal's Justin Ruggio thwarted every submission attempt that was thrown at him and I'm not talking about slow developing triangles or head on a platter guillotines. Randori Jiu Jitsu's Steve Patterson showcased high level Jiu Jitsu even locking in a pretty deep triangle however Ruggio would not be denied his first professional victory. The first two rounds saw Ruggio spending the majority of the contest on top of Patterson, when not avoiding submission attempts Ruggio continued to keep busy throwing punches to the body and head of Patterson. In the third round Ruggio caught Patterson with a left and dropped him with a right, Ruggio quickly closed the distance and the referee stopped the contest just 50 seconds into the third round. The crowd was electrified by finish and thrilling knock out of the night.
Team No Ego's Danny Aguirre and Gilbert Grappling's Larry DiGiulio had a battle in their fight that went the distance. DiGiulio decided that he would rather face the reach disadvantage than try to take Aguirre to the ground and fend off submission attempts. A couple fo times in the contest DiGiulio was on top of Aguirre and let him off the canvas. DiGiulio did a great job getting inside and landing frequent jabs but when he got too close Aguirre went for the clinch and delivered knees. The first round, I gave to DiGiulio who kept Aguirre off balance with his suprising striking and game plan. Aguirre's striking seemed to improve in the last 2 rounds which gave him his second victory in a tough contest for the young fighter.
Former Ufc competitor Keith Wisniewski wasted no time in delivering a solid knee to the face of Randy Crawford winning in just 21 seconds.
Team Colon's Brandon Delparado stopped Brad Muthart in 34 seconds looking sharp in his return to the cage.
