Team One's Jason Ignacek, current Cutthroat Featherweight Champion, was triumphant in his debut at bantamweight, capturing a TKO victory over last minute replacement Ty Isley of Boneyard MMA. Isley did well early against Ignacek in the clinch, however Ignacek was able to land on top of his opponent as they went to the canvas, ending up in the advantageous mount position. Ignacek unleashed a barrage of punches after Isley gave up his back causing Isley to tap out to strikes at 1:25 into the first round. In the post fight interview Ignacek stated that he wants to be more active looking to fight again next month.
The fight of the night goes to No Comment's James Yarbrough and Justin Hughes. The two fighters battled for three rounds with Hughes gaining the unanimous decision victory. Hughes landed more strikes and was also able to get a couple of takedowns in the match. Yarbrough overcame some solid punches in the first and did well in clinch delivering knees to the body of Hughes. Yarbrough also came close to finishing the contest, working a rear naked choke, in the second round as time expired. An exciting back and forth matchup between two young fighters that exhibited a lot of heart, toughness and competitiveness as they delighted the crowd.
The knock out of the night was officially ruled a TKO however Team No Comment's Darrell Edmonson landed a vicious head kick to Travis Simpson. Simpson attempted to avoid the hands of Edmondson by ducking down but ended up meeting Edmondson's right foot which landed on the side of Simpsons face. The kick sent Simpson reeling across the cage dropping to the canvas. Edmondson stopped and looked at the referee not wanting to cause any more damage to his opponent and referee Rob Madrigal stopped the bout. A beautifully timed head kick by Darrell "Little Rampage" Edmonson gets him the victory in just 10 seconds into the fight.
The submission of the night goes to 65 year old Jerry Elsner, who represented the Cook County Sheriffs' office. After getting taken down by opponent Jeff Szakas Elsner sunk in a guillotine causing Szakas to tap out just 21 seconds into the first round.
