HFC 10 Results

HFC_10_Image_1Hoosier Fight Club put on an awesome show at the Porter County Fairgrounds in Valparaiso, In. on Saturday night. The card was stacked with competitive match ups that provided some quality action for the sold out crowd. Thirteen total fights on the card with the first five being in the amateur ranks. Christian Uflacker (1-0) took on the more experienced LC Davis (12-2) in the main event of the evening. Uflacker was able to use take downs and managed to control the action in the first two rounds. While he wasn't able to inflict much damage on Davis, being on top was enough to take the first two rounds. The third round belonged to Davis, as he was able to avoid being put on his back and finally was able to open up and use his hands. Davis landed a couple of nice combinations but Uflacker shook of the blows and went on to improve his record to 2-0. It was a close fight that resulted in a split decision victory for Uflacker but I don't understand how one judge scored the contest 30-27 for Davis, while the other two had it 29-28 for Uflacker. A big win for Uflacker, what challnege could Paul Vale have in store for him next?

The co-main event late replacement Larry DiGulio (G2) took on La Boxing's Nick Wayne. DiGulio who was giving up some height and reach to Wayne, but he was able to get inside landing several times, dropping Wayne to the canvas on one occasion. DiGulio was able to secure a guillotine choke at 3:59 into the first round. DiGulio did a great job finishing his opponent after taking the fight on short notice.

Bill Johnson was victorious in a razor close decision over Rob Morrow. The fight really captured the crowd's attention, when Morrow yelled repeatedly at Johnson to come and bang, in the center of the cage. The two fighters had a nice exchange at the end of the third round with Morrow getting the better of it but it was a takedown by Johnson late in the third that may have swayed the judges.

Kenny Booker was victorious in his pro debut over Ryan Storey in another close decision. A solid fight that mostly took place predominantly on their feet. Storey was unable to exhibit the typical take down ground and pound that I have seen many times. Great showing by Booker, Ryan Storey is a tough opponent and will be back on the winning side soon.

Kevin Nowaczyk and Neil Magny both put on striking clinics on their opponents, impressive performances by both fighters.

Dennis Dombrow and  Jake Rosenbaum were victorious, both fighter capturing victory with guillotine chokes.

HFC continues to put together high quality events and it's always a pleasure to attend their events! I look forward to HFC 11 in June and wonder what big names will be on the next card?
