XFO Fight Night March 31st, 2012

Brian_Radtke_3-31-12_XFOXFO Fight Night took place at Club Premiere, in East Dundee, IL. There were 14 amateur fights on the card. The main event was between Luke Rodriguez (Nick Tarpein' Martial Arts) and Team Curran's Brian Radtke. Radtke certainly was tested early, having to defend of a guillotine and a standing rear naked choke attempt. Radtke was able to shake his opponent off his back, and landed perfectly set up for an arm triangle choke. Radtke was able to move his body to the side of Rodriguez, forcing him to submit to the choke, with just 9 seconds left in the first round. It was almost a shame to see this fight end, because it was such a competitive and exciting match that electrified the crowd!

The co-main event featured Eric Platt (Nick Tarpein MA) versus Daniel "300" Flora. Flora trains at Triton Fight Center. Flora wasted no time closing the distance, landing a right hand and moved in to clinch. Flora took Platt to the ground, moved to mount and proceeded to work his ground and pound. Flora continued to land shots as Platt tried to avoid damage by turning and giving up his back, but Flora maintained the top position. Flora was patient dropping big punches, forcing Platt to adjust, which left him vulnerable to the rear naked choke. Platt tapped just 1:23 seconds into the first round. This fight was all Flora and I look forward to watching him compete again!

The knock out of the night goes to Matt Geiger, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Geiger used a devastating side slam that knocked out Nick McDonald. After the slam Geiger moved to mount, apparently unaware that his opponent was unconscious, delivered several huge punches that landed, before the referee was able to move in and stop the action. This was not the fault of the referee, all this happened in just 10 seconds. McDonald was out cold and medical personnel were quickly on the scene. Even though McDonald had to be taken off on a stretcher, it was reported that he was talking coherently back stage and like most fighters, complained to the doctor about going to get checked out. A devastating knock out by Geiger, but more importantly McDonald appears to be just fine.

Several fighters made statements with quick victories, that took less than 30 seconds. It took Pat and Vincent DeCicco a total of 26 seconds to defeat their opponents. Rene Alvaerado ran over Tim Stout in just 13 seconds with a rear naked choke. Shawn Wallace took out Bill Mayer with strikes in just 30 seconds. It was an exciting night of mma action, make sure you see their next card on April 13th, 2012.  Please be sure to check back for a break down of each fight.
