Dinisio_7-20-12_FinalTotal Fight Challenge held a phenomenal night of fights, and all the fans were talking about the action as they left the Willow Brook Ballroom, in Willow Springs, IL. Team No Comment's Dinisio Gilbert retained his Light Heavyweight Title in convincing fashion, with a first round knockout of challenger Frank McMullin. Gilbert  stuffed an early takedown attempt by McMullin and after the two separated, Gilbert landed a combination and a heavy left hook that sent  McMullin to the canvas. Gilbert pounced on his opponent landing several strikes before the fight was stopped.Dinisio Gilbert retains his title, defeating McMullin for the second time.

The co-main event was one of the most exciting fights that I have witnessed in a while. Otis Brumfield  (16-6) took a fight within the last couple of days against Eric "The Red" Rasmussen. Rasmussen (9-1) is one of the best 155 pound amateur fighters in the area but Otis came to fight. Brumfield attacked  with a flurry of punches catching Rasmussen with a big left hook, sending him backwards towards the cage. As the two fighters exchanged knees, it appeared that Brumfield's knee landed a little low. The referee halted the onslaught of Brumfield and Rasmussen would get time to recover. I wasn't sure that Rasmussen would be able to continue as he was writhing on the ground in pain, but Rasmussen is a true warrior and the fight continued. Brumfield went on the offensive again landing some more shots taking the first round in convincing fashion. The two fighters battled in the second with Rasmussen having an edge against the cage and was able to control the majority of the action on the ground. Both fighters exchanged punches to start the third round in this exciting fight. Rasmussen could sense that Brumfield was starting to tire, so he started to work on the body. Brumfield attacked with a flurry once again but Rasmussen covered up well. Brumfield started to drop his hands a bit. Rasmussen threw a left hook and as Brumfield leaned to his left, Rasmussen delivered a crushing right head kick, with his shin making full contact to the face of Brumfield. Brumfield was out before he hit the canvas, Rasmussen moved to follow up, but the referee intervened, stopping the contest. A scary moment as Brumfield had to be taken off on a stretcher. It was reported that Brumfield was ok after the fight and didn't want to have medical attention. This was the knockout of the night, as Rasmussen improves his record to 10-1. This was a fight that people will be talking about for weeks to come.

Another great fight was between Team No Ego's Brian Akins and Southside Knockout's Dan Bravo. The two fighters battled for three rounds in a close fight. Akins threatened with an armbar in the first round and it was Bravo doing some ground and pound in the second. The third saw Akins getting a takedown in another close round. The decision was left to the judges and it was a split decision victory for Dan Bravo who remains undefeated.

Quite a few fighters kept their undefeated records this evening, Team Genesis's Brandon Toler defeated a tough Paul Amos via unanimous decison to pick up his second victory in the last month and now is 2-0, also improving to 2-0 is Garfield Thompson. Team Top Notch's Ryan Berry improves to 5-0, Team No Comment's Ray Bunker and Tomek Zwolen picked up their first career victories. John Weinert, of Elite Training Center improves to 4-0 with a win over Dave Gallegos.

Joe Goytia put on a great show and a special thank you to all the fighters who entered the cage to test their skills, while providing the fans with an awesome show!! There was a lot of young talent on this card, I anxiously wait for the next card on September 21, 2012.
